Tucked away in the bush, a short walk from the beach

Kuaotunu Escape sits at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac above Kuaotunu, with native bush behind, farmland on one side and the sea out in front. Guests tell us the view is even better than the photos. One guest reckons they took about 500 pictures of it.

It feels a long way from anywhere, with birdsong in the morning and sheep and cows on the hill next door. Yet the beach, the café, Luke's Kitchen and the Kuaotunu Store are only a few minutes' walk down the road.

The house has been extensively renovated. The kitchen gets a special mention in review after review, and in winter guests love the heat pump, the double glazing, electric blankets and afternoon sun on the deck.

What a beautiful spot to share with the world. Amazing views and so many comfy sitting areas to relax and enjoy the peace or do a puzzle. Toasty electric blankets were lovely to get into at night & beautiful sun filled afternoons on the deck were a delight!

Private, luxurious, spotlessly clean - a view that takes the breath away!
A stone's throw from great beaches, cafes, restaurant, corner store - what more could you want? I would definitely recommend it and (the best compliment of all) I will be staying here again.

Good to know

What happens after I book?

Whichever site you book through, we then send you a link to our guest portal. That's where you complete a short check-in form and get the door code and house guide, and where a refundable NZ$250 security deposit is taken as a hold on your card before check-in. It's a separate step from Airbnb or Booking.com, so it's worth doing before you set off.

Can we bring children?

We recommend Kuaotunu Escape for guests aged 12 and over, because of its rural setting and large areas of glass.

Can we bring our dog?

Sorry, no pets. There's livestock on the neighbouring farm.

What's the blue building in some of the photos?

A separate annex that isn't used by guests and isn't occupied. You have the whole house to yourselves.

Is it a good winter stay?

Yes. Guests who come in winter mention the heat pump, the insulation, the electric blankets and sunny afternoons on the deck. On a wet day there are board games inside.
