We had the most fabulous five nights at the Wow House. There is so much to see, do and experience on the Coromanel Peninsular and coming back to this lovely home every afternoon was perfect.
The view is a never-ending kalidiscope of colourful sunrises and sunsets over the water that you can get lost in.
We were cozy, comfortable and slept so well each night.
Thank you Serena!

Walk in, look out, and say wow
The name comes from what guests say when they open the front door. A wall of glass off the lounge looks straight out over Kuaotunu West Beach to Great Mercury Island and Great Barrier Island on the horizon, and the view follows you into the kitchen, the dining room and the bedrooms.
People watch it for hours: dolphins, surfers and beach walkers by day, weather rolling in off the sea, and clear night skies full of stars. Plenty of guests tell us the photos don't do it justice.
When you want to be on the sand rather than looking at it, a private path through the trees takes you down to the beach in about three minutes.
About this home
"Wow" is the first word out of everyone's mouth the moment they step through the front door and take in the view: Kuaotunu West Beach stretching out below, with Great Mercury Island and Great Barrier Island on the horizon beyond.
This modern 3-bedroom holiday home is built for that view — and for making the most of it. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living area flows out through bifold doors onto the deck, blurring the line between indoors and out. Whether it's a lazy breakfast, sundowners, or a full holiday feast, there's space to spread out and enjoy it.
The Kitchen
Fully equipped for a house full of holidaymakers: dishwasher, microwave, electric oven, 4-burner gas hob, fridge/freezer, toaster and kettle, plus crockery, cutlery and utensils for up to 6. A large pantry and generous cupboard space mean there's room for all your holiday supplies, and a Weber BBQ on the deck is ready for anyone keen to grill.
Bedrooms & Bathrooms
- Master suite — upstairs, with a quality queen bed, walk-in wardrobe, and ensuite (shower, toilet, heated towel rail, vanity). Its own ranch slider opens onto a private deck with beach views.
- Bedroom two — downstairs, a comfortable queen bed with its own walk-in wardrobe, sharing a bathroom (shower, toilet, heated towel rail, separate vanity). Also opens via ranch slider onto its own deck.
- Bedroom three — a queen bed with built-in clothes rack and shelving, sharing the same downstairs bathroom.
The downstairs living area links the two lower bedrooms and includes a wall-mounted 42" Sony TV with Chromecast for all your streaming favourites — giving guests a bit of separation from the upstairs living space when needed. Step through the ranch slider to the third deck, a shaded spot perfect for relaxing outdoors any time of day.
Connected & Entertained
Stay connected throughout the house with fast, unlimited Starlink wifi (120+ Mbps). Upstairs, music lovers will appreciate the Onkyo receiver with WiiM Pro (Spotify, AirPlay 2 and Chromecast Audio), CD player, subwoofer and wall-mounted speakers — stream your favourite tunes straight from your phone.
All Made Up For You
A full linen package is included: bed linen, bath towels, bath mats, hand towels, face cloths and tea towels — all made up before you arrive, so your holiday starts the moment you walk in. A fresh linen change is provided every 7 nights, though a front-loader washer, dryer and clothes line are on hand if you need them.
Steps to the Sand
The white sand of Kuaotunu West Beach is just a 3-minute stroll away via a private pathway to Cuvier Crescent — close enough to leave the car parked and spend your days by the sea. Rinse off the sand and salt in the private outdoor shower before heading in for a summer dinner on the deck. Sit back, take in the view, and say Wow.

Best Airbnb we have ever stayed in. We 3 hadn’t all agreed upon this point after a day or so but within a couple of days we had all agreed. Nothing to fault. Despite houses being around it is incredibly private and you can feel alone amongst the treetops overlooking the canopy and with an awesome ocean view. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, 2 living areas but hard to remove yourself from the upstairs views overlooking everything you could wish for if you were imagining your dream outlook. Seriously, this house is awesome and would stay again in a heartbeat if I were in the area.

Stunning views and close to beach.
Jo
Fabulous stay, this place is great in the photos but in reality even better, it doesn’t get much better than this with the most amazing views and a wonderful clean home.
Lots to do but also incredibly peaceful if you are just looking to chill.
Close to lots of activities if you wish, a great restaurant just down the road, ‘Lukes Kitchen’. Close to the beach for a walk via a private path from the house.
We will be back and highly recommend both the home and Selena.

Kuaotunu West, Coromandel, New Zealand
The house sits on the hill above Kuaotunu West Beach. Luke's Kitchen and the café in Kuaotunu village are about five minutes' drive away, and Whitianga is around 20 minutes for shops and supplies.
It makes a good base for day trips to Hahei and Cathedral Cove, New Chums Beach and the surf beaches.
See the area on a map (approximate location; the exact address comes with your booking).

What happens after I book?
Whichever site you book through, we then send you a link to our guest portal. That's where you complete a short check-in form and get the door code and house guide, and where a refundable NZ$250 security deposit is taken as a hold on your card before check-in. It's a separate step from Airbnb or Booking.com, so it's worth doing before you set off. Mobile signal can be weak at the front door, so save your arrival details before you leave home.
Is the house suitable for young children or anyone with limited mobility?
We don't recommend it for children under 12, because there are steep internal and external stairs and large glass doors and windows. For the same reason it isn't suitable for wheelchair users or anyone with mobility issues.
Where's the TV?
Downstairs, in the second living room (a 42-inch TV with Chromecast). Upstairs is kept for the view and the sound system.
Is there anything we should bring?
Beach towels and beach chairs: bed linen and bath towels are supplied, beach gear isn't. Bring groceries too: Whitianga, about 20 minutes away, is the place for a big shop. In summer, pack insect repellent, because mosquitoes come out after dark.
Can we bring our dog?
Sorry, no pets.
